Work History

2024-06

Implemented automated drawing checklist in ENOVIA — engineers must complete a structured checklist (title block, revision block, material callout, surface finish, GD&T datums) before releasing a drawing.

Challenge: ENOVIA scripting capabilities are limited — the checklist had to be implemented as a workflow approval step with mandatory fields rather than a true interactive form.

Learned: Enforce quality at the process level, not by hoping engineers remember. A workflow gate that blocks release until the checklist is completed is far more reliable than a checklist that engineers can skip.

2023-11

Developed company CAD standards guide covering drawing layout, title block requirements, GD&T usage rules, and ENOVIA naming conventions. Delivered 4 training sessions to 22 engineers.

Challenge: Engineers from two acquired companies used different drawing standards. Harmonizing without alienating either group required consensus-building over 3 months before publishing the standard.

Learned: Technical standards fail if they are imposed rather than co-created. Getting buy-in from senior engineers in each group before publishing was the key to adoption.

2023-04

Led migration of EBOM (Engineering Bill of Materials) from CATIA V5/ENOVIA to CATIA V6/3DEXPERIENCE platform for satellite bus program. Migrated 1,200 parts and 340 drawings.

Challenge: CATIA V6 handles assembly constraints differently from V5 — several complex assemblies lost their constraints during migration. Wrote a Python script to validate constraint counts pre- and post-migration and flag broken assemblies.

Learned: PDM migrations require automated validation, not manual spot-checking. At 1,200 parts, manual checking is too slow and too error-prone.

2022-09

Audited 450 legacy drawings for GD&T compliance before program CDR. Found 38 drawings with ambiguous or incorrect tolerance callouts, coordinated corrections with design engineers.

Challenge: Several legacy drawings used compound tolerances from a 1990s standard no longer in use. Required research into original design intent and consultation with chief engineer before revising.

Learned: Drawing audits should be part of every program gate, not an afterthought before delivery. Legacy drawings can carry silent errors for decades if not reviewed.
